Sound and gentle vibrations, for deep relaxation.

Sometimes the day’s work is done, yet your mind keeps going back to conversations, plans and unresolved questions. You want to slow down, let go of the tension and spend a little while alone with yourself.

A session with Tibetan singing bowls is a chance to immerse yourself in sound and gradually unwind. You lie comfortably, fully clothed, listening to the long, sustained tones and feeling the gentle vibrations of the bowls placed on your body.

I’m Tatsiana Harelava. I offer one-to-one singing bowl sessions at Piazza delle Erbe 37, in central Bolzano.

Duration: about 60 minutes
Sessions: by appointment only

What singing bowls are

Tibetan singing bowls are metal instruments with a long, richly layered sound. When a special mallet is drawn smoothly around the rim, the metal begins to vibrate, producing a sustained tone that slowly shifts and changes.

I use bowls of different sizes and voices. Some tones are deeper, others high and bright. Together they create a varied sound that you can simply listen to, without trying to analyse it.

When a bowl rests on the body, its vibrations can be felt as well as heard. It is this combination of sound and vibration that sets a session apart from simply listening to music.

Why people come

A singing bowl session may suit you if you:

  • feel the need for deep relaxation;
  • are worn out by a hectic pace and want to step away from everyday concerns;
  • prefer to relax without vigorous massage or active exercises;
  • would like to discover the sound of singing bowls and the feel of their vibrations.

No experience of meditation is needed. You don’t have to breathe in a particular way, hold your attention or empty your mind of thoughts. You can simply lie there and listen.

What happens in a session

A short conversation

Before we begin, we talk about how you are feeling and anything that needs to be taken into account. If you are sensitive to sound or vibration, please tell me beforehand.

Sound and vibration

You settle on the table in comfortable clothes. I place the bowls on your body and draw the mallet smoothly around the rim to bring out a long, sustained sound – without striking the bowls.

I work unhurriedly, choosing the bowls and the intensity of the sound according to what you feel. I leave pauses between sounds, so that you can hear them slowly fade away.

At any point you can ask me to make the sound quieter, move a bowl or stop.

A calm ending

Once the last bowl has fallen silent, we leave a few minutes of quiet. Then you can sit up and stand in your own time and, if you wish, share how it was for you.

What you might experience

The sound can be perceived in different ways: as a soft hum, a delicate ringing or a wave that gradually dies away. The vibration may be barely noticeable or more distinct, depending on the bowl and where it is placed.

During the session you may experience deep relaxation, drowsiness, a sense of lightness and inner calm. Sometimes the experience is much quieter, with nothing particularly vivid.

There is no particular state to aim for. What matters is that the sound and vibration feel comfortable for you. What people feel during and after a session varies from person to person.

A session on its own or the close of a massage

You can book a stand-alone session with Tibetan singing bowls lasting about an hour.

Alternatively, the sound of the bowls can round off a massage. If this combination appeals to you, let me know when you book, so that we can agree the length and price in advance.

Good to know before you book

In my practice I use Tibetan singing bowls for deep relaxation. A session is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.

Please let me know in advance if you are pregnant, have epilepsy or an implanted medical device, have recently had surgery or have any other health considerations. In these cases, whether a session is possible – and whether bowls can be placed on the body – must first be discussed with your treating doctor.

If sound causes you discomfort or you have a hearing condition, please tell me about that before booking as well. Whether a session is possible for a child is discussed separately.

Duration and booking

A one-to-one session lasts about 60 minutes. There is no compulsory course: you can come once, get to know the bowls and then decide whether you would like to continue.

I see clients by appointment at Piazza delle Erbe 37, in central Bolzano.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience of meditation?

No. You don’t need to learn any special techniques or try to “switch off your thoughts”. Simply make yourself comfortable and listen.

Are the bowls placed beside me or on my body?

In my sessions the bowls are placed on the body, over your clothes. This lets you feel their vibration directly, rather than only hearing the sound.

Will there be any sudden, harsh sounds?

I produce the sound by drawing the mallet smoothly around the rim, without striking the bowls. If the sound feels too intense, I can make it quieter or stop.

Do I need to undress?

No, you stay fully clothed. Soft, comfortable clothes are best, without stiff belts or large metal parts.

Is it all right to fall asleep?

You may feel drowsy during the session. There is no need to try to fall asleep – or to try to stay awake.

How often can I come?

There is no set schedule. You can start with one session and arrange further ones as you wish, depending on how you feel.
